Websites4Contractors
Websites4Contractors is the directory of contractors at websites4contractors.com. It is owned and run by TRESYN LLC, a California limited liability company. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean TRESYN LLC.
This policy says what information we collect, why we collect it, who else handles it, and what you can do about it. We have written it in plain words on purpose. If anything is unclear, write to legal@
Who this policy covers
- People with an account: contractors, and anyone who lists a business for a client, such as a marketing agency.
- Visitors: anyone who looks at our public pages, with or without an account.
It also says what happens to information about other people that ends up in a listing, and about people who email us.
The short version
- A listing is public. What you put on it is shown to everyone and can be found through search engines.
- We never show your email address, your ZIP code or the name of your plan on a public page.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- Our servers read your business website to run our checks.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never receive your full card number.
- We use Google Analytics to count visits to our public pages.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it.

Password resets. When someone asks for a password reset, we use the internet address the request came from (its IP address) and a scrambled form of the email address to limit how many requests can be made. We keep these counters apart from your account record and use them only for that limit.
The checks are automatic. A listing is published or refused by automatic checks, not by a person. If you think a check got it wrong, write to support@
If you list a business for a client. Give us only information the client has agreed to make public.
Your photos
- We store the photo you upload. Only you and we can reach the stored original. It is never public.
- The copies we show on your listing are smaller versions with the hidden details removed. A photo taken on a phone often carries the place and time it was taken and details of the camera. Our public copies carry none of that.
- A photo you upload and do not use in a listing, or a photo in changes you throw away, is deleted within 24 hours.
- Photos on a published listing are public. Think before you post a photo that shows a person who can be recognized or a customer's home. If you appear in a photo on our site and want it removed, write to abuse@
websites4contractors.com.
Your business website
To run the checks described in our Terms of Service, our servers visit the website on your listing and read its public pages, the same pages any visitor can see. We do this before a listing is published and when you edit it. We may also do it as often as once a day while the listing is published, and before each renewal.
We keep a record of what your website answered and the result of each check, so that we can show you what failed. Our visits will appear in your website's own visitor records as visits from servers we rent from Google.
Payments
While payments are closed, we collect no payment information at all.
When payments are open, you pay on a page run by Stripe, the company that handles payments for us. Stripe collects your card details and the billing details it needs to work out sales tax. Stripe uses that information under its own privacy policy, which is at https://stripe.com/privacy.
We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe tells us whether a payment went through, what it was for and how much it was, and gives us reference numbers that we use to manage your subscription, refunds and renewals. We can also see limited card details in Stripe's records, such as the type of card, its last four digits and its expiry date, and the billing location used for sales tax.
If you visit our pages
You do not need an account to look at the directory, and we do not ask who you are.
Server records. Like most websites, the servers that deliver our pages keep standard records of each request: the internet address it came from (the IP address), the browser and device, the page asked for, the page that linked to it, and the date and time. We use them to keep the site running and to spot abuse.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics on our public pages to count visits and to see which pages are used. It places cookies in your browser, which are small files that let it tell one visitor's browser from another's, and it records the pages you view, roughly where you are (a city or region, worked out from your IP address), your device and browser, and how you reached us. It also records when you scroll most of the way down a page, follow a link to another website (such as a contractor's own website), search our pages, use a form, play a video or download a file, with the address of the link or file and the words you searched for. We use it only to understand how the site is used. We have not turned on its advertising features. Google explains how it uses this information at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can stop it with Google's opt-out tool at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Contacting a business. When you call a business or visit its website from a listing, you deal with that business directly. Nothing you say to it passes through us. Each business's own website has its own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Cookies and similar storage
- To keep you logged in. When you log in, our sign-in provider saves a small record in your browser so that you stay logged in. The account cannot work without it.
- To count visits. Google Analytics uses cookies, as described above.
- At checkout. Stripe's payment page uses its own cookies, including to prevent fraud.
We do not use advertising cookies.
Do Not Track. Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. Our pages do not change what they do when they receive one. Other than Google Analytics as described above, we do not let other companies collect information about what you do across different websites over time.
Other people
- A business listed by someone else. If an agency or anyone else lists your business, the business details on the listing are public. If your business is listed without your agreement, write to abuse@
websites4contractors.com. - People in photos. If you appear in a photo on a listing and want it removed, write to abuse@
websites4contractors.com. - Businesses we write to. We sometimes email marketing agencies and contractors to tell them about the directory, using business contact details that are public. Every such email says how to stop them, and we honor that.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of companies to run the directory. They handle information for us, under their own terms, and only to provide their service.
- Company: Google
- What it does for us: Account sign-in, the database that holds accounts and listings, the storage that holds photos, the servers that run our checks, Google Analytics, and the mailbox where we read your emails
- Company: Hostinger
- What it does for us: Hosting and delivering our public pages, and sending and forwarding our email
- Company: Stripe
- What it does for us: Payments, refunds and sales tax, when payments are open
Beyond those companies, we share information only:
- with everyone, where it is a public listing. Search engines and other websites may copy public listings;
- when the law requires it, for example a court order, or when we need to in order to protect someone's safety, our rights, or the directory;
- if the directory changes hands. If TRESYN LLC is sold, merged or reorganized, or the directory is sold, your information may pass to the new owner, who must keep to this policy or tell you before changing it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their advertising or marketing.
Where your information is kept
We keep account records, listing records and photos in the United States. Our public pages are hosted in the United States. Our hosting company may also keep copies of the public pages on servers in other countries so that the pages load quickly. Those copies hold only what is already public. Stripe and Google may handle information in other countries under their own policies.
How long we keep it
- While your account is open, we keep your account and your listings, including drafts.
- A listing that is no longer published leaves our public pages. Its record stays in your account. A listing that goes back to a draft keeps its words and photos.
- Photos you upload and do not use are deleted within 24 hours.
- When you ask us to close your account, we delete your account and listing records, or remove what identifies you from them, within 30 days of confirming the request is yours. We keep only:
- payment and tax records, for as long as tax and accounting law requires;
- the record of the three statements, and the history of changes to a listing that was public, for as long as a claim about that listing could still be brought;
- emails you sent us, for as long as we need them to deal with what they are about; and
- copies in backups, if there are any, until those backups are replaced.
- Google Analytics keeps its records for 2 months.
- Server records are kept by our hosting company and by Google for a limited time, under their own schedules.
Search engines and other websites may keep copies of a public listing after it leaves our pages. We do not control those copies.
Your choices
These are open to everyone, whatever state you live in.
- See or change your information. Log in and edit your listing or your account.
- Take a listing off the public pages. Our Terms of Service say how.
- Get a copy, correct something, or delete your account. Write to legal@
websites4contractors.com from the email address on your account. We answer within 45 days. We may ask you to confirm that the request is yours. - Stop Google Analytics. Use the opt-out tool or your browser's cookie settings, as described above.
- Emails. We send you emails about your account, your listings and your payments. These are part of the service, so they have no unsubscribe link while your account is open. If we ever send you news or offers, every one will have a way to stop them.
We will not treat you differently for using any of these choices.
Security
Our pages and our connections to the companies above use secure connections. Each account can reach only its own records. Card details are handled by Stripe and not by us. Access to our systems is limited to the people who need it to run the directory.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires. Please choose a password you do not use anywhere else.
Children
The directory is for businesses and for adults looking for a contractor. Accounts are for people who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to legal@
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we change the date at the top. If a change matters to people with accounts, we email them before it takes effect.
